The big word is that the Premier League will be employing Hawk-Eye goal line technology next season, and this is the same equipment used for tennis and cricket. It is different, however, from what FIFA is going to employ next year in Rio which is the GoalControl system.
In short, it's about time and may have been long overdue. Soccer is one of the most profitable sports in the world and they should be leaders in implementing state of the art technology that promotes "fair play". There has always been (several) cases during the World Cup where poor and game changing calls were made.
